About the Artist

“Learn the rules like a pro, so you can break them like an
artist” - Pablo Picasso

Tania is one of Australia’s emerging artists and is based in Queensland, Australia. Her training as an artist started in Singapore where she learned the basics of drawing and painting from one of the leading art teachers – Cora Waterhouse.

Tania ventured into different styles and mediums under Cora’s tutelage and now paints in acrylics and pastels. Tania has lived in Sri Lanka, Paris, the US, Denmark, Singapore, and Sydney and those places and cultures have influenced her style which is uniquely her own.

Her interest in art was developed during her years living in Paris. She spent hours at the Louvre, the Picasso Museum, and her favourite the small museum “Jeu de Paume” at the edge of the Tuileries, the home to all of the greatest impressionist painters. Monet will always remain one of the masters she admires the most. Many visits to Monet’s house in Giverny will enhance her love of his paintings. She will understand the basis of his inspiration as she strolls through the gardens of Giverny.

Tania comes from a family of artists. Her two aunts Malathi Jayawickrama and Iromi Wijewardena are renowned artists living in the US and Sri Lanka. They both work in very different styles and have inspired Tania over the years. Tania has learned from some of the best art teachers during her years in Singapore, Sydney, and the Gold Coast.

“Tania weaves a rich palette and fantastic images together to create colourfully arresting paintings! As her first teacher, I am excited to watch her develop a style that is uniquely her own” - Cora Waterhouse
